The correct dosage of CBD Oil?

With so much information being thrown around the internet about CBD oil, in particular CBD oil dosage, it is easy to understand the confusion it holds. So lets get straight to the point:

Important Things to Know About CBD Oil Dosages

1. Everybody is different

If you have heard of the endocannabinoid system you will know that this is a unique system in our body that’s responsible for improving and maintaining our mental and physical health.

The endocannabinoid system is a very complex system which still remains a mystery to to the majority of researches. One thing we do know is that every one has a different endocannabinoid system, therefore while the instructions on a CBD oil’s bottle may be informative and clear to understand, the standard dosing supplied may affect two different people in completely different ways.

 2. Genetics, Tolerance and General Health

If you believe that everyone is different, then you can appreciate that we all have different genetics, tolerance levels and general health. There are people who suffer with severe conditions such as arthritis and others who are looking to help their day to day anxiety levels.

People decide to take CBD oil for various different health conditions, so it is assumed that all of these factors, genetics, tolerance levels and general health, will have an impact on how much CBD oil one needs to take.

3. It’s Not a Miracle Cure

Regardless of the effects different dosage CBD oil has on you, it is vital to understand that CBD is not a miracle cure and is to be used alongside a balanced diet and lifestyle.

Just like most supplements, CBD oil takes time to build up in the body. One major mistake people have made while taking CBD oil is the amount of time they allow it to work. They key is to give it time and find the correct dosing.

So, what dosage?

One of the most common dosage recommendations we hear is “Take one dropper of CBD per day." While this is a dose, as you can see from above it depends on various variables such as:

  • The concentration of CBD
  • The weight of the individual
  • The individual’s body chemistry
  • The severity of the condition being treated

To summarise, there is no 'one size fits all' when it comes to taking CBD oil (as well as other food supplements), and there will be some trial and error while gauging your right dose.

CBD appears safe even in high doses

Research is currently suggesting that CBD oil appears safe in high doses, but you should start low and go slow. If you think about other supplements such as multivitamins, the recommendation is to take one a day. In the same case, less is more.

The right method

The correct method of finding the possible CBD dosage for you is to start at a low dose. For example, for the first week you may want to start of with a dose of 3-5 mg. If after the first week you notice no change, you may want to increase to 10 mg and continue this way until you find an effective and consistent dose in providing possible relief.

You have to also take into account the condition or symptoms you're looking to treat. From sleep disorders, to chronic pain, to mental health, there are multiple conditions CBD oil has been suggested at helping that may require different dosage levels. It has been researched that if you are trying to treat severe pain, seizures, or other extreme symptoms, a higher dosage may be necessary.
